HELP WANTED: Shooting guards needed to play for an NBA team in the top city. Qualified candidates must have good ball handling skills and excellent passing abilities. Must be able to have a good view of the court to find the open man. Exceptional shooting skills are required, with the ability to nail any outside shot, while still being able to drive strong to the basket. Must be able to start immediately!!!! I thought I would help the Knicks start looking for the guards needed to complete their backcourt since last year’s starting backcourt is gone. As of now, their starting point guard will likely be Felton with Kidd coming off the bench. We have JR Smith as a backup shooting guard but putting him in the starting line-up takes away their fire power off the bench. I think we need some starting shooting guards badly. The other possibility is that the Knicks will decide to go with Kidd and Felton alternating roles as shooting guard and point guard. This is a poor man’s version of Walt Clyde Frazier and Earl “the Pearl” Monroe back in the 70’s before I was even born. That combo was made of superstars and it worked back then. The Knicks do not have that star firepower with the Felton-Kidd combo. Kidd is pretty old now and Felton still has a lot of proving to do. What do you think the Knicks will do? Do you think they will continue with their bad decisions and not do anything? Based on their current management, I do not have high hopes right now. How about you? Please comment.

The Knicks definitely need to look into Free Agency for any available shooting guards with those two out until about January or February. It's crazy to think that last year we had a solid starting back court and both starters are now gone and lost to free agency with nothing in return.

You know Mike I agree with everything you said and I remember as a kid watching Earl the Pearl & Walt Clyde Frasier with my father (those were some great games) and I hate to say it but I think the Knicks management is horrendous and they will continue to make bad decisions because I believe they are too arrogant!

Mike - Their backcourt is not the only thing missing about the Knicks this year. Their negotiating skills have been MIA for almost a decade now!! Good site, enjoy reading your posts.

The Knicks signed Ronnie Brewer to the team to be the starting shooting guard. Yes he had surgery on September 7th but should be out for only 6 weeks. Which means he should be ready to play the Nets on opening day. I'm not saying he is the answer Knicks fans are looking for, but I think he is an upgrade from Landry fields. Brewer is a good defender who can score. A combination of Brewer and JR Smith at the shooting guard position should help the Knicks out at that position until Shumpert comes back in February. As far as point guards I think the knicks upgraded as well. A combo of Felton and Kidd is better then a combo of Lin and Baron Davis. Dont forget Kidd is still a great defense of player though much older. I know Knick fans loved Linsanity, the reality he was a liability on defense and fields disappear most nights on offense. I think the Knicks back court improved from last year to this year because of what I said earlier.

Yeah, I see your point Brewer is an upgrade from Fields, but who knows how good he'll be after surgery? And, you are right about Kidd, too. I like your points and I do think that a combo of Felton and Kidd are a better combo than Lin and Davis. So, I agree with most of your points and thanks for posting!
